Jenkintown Education Foundation
Working for the Future of our Students Today!

The Jenkintown Education Foundation (JEF) of the School District of Jenkintown, founded in 1993, is a broad based 501 (c) (3) non-profit community organization whose exclusive purpose is to secure financial resources for the benefit of students of the District.  Using innovative methods and ideas, JEF will develop ways of identifying various funding sources, as well as insuring that the District remains a separate entity.  JEF has its foundations in the Jenkintown Improvement Association founded back in 1909.  In 1925, the Association founded the Student Loan Fund to provide interest free loans to deserving Jenkintown High School graduates to assist them in their educational pursuits. Over the course of some fifty years, over 120 loans were provided to JHS graduates, with approximately 95% of all funds repaid.

JEF remains engaged in soliciting contributions from alumni, residents and businesses in order to continue to support the education of students in the District:

• The Student Loan Fund is the main vehicle through which JEF currently supports the District, as it distributes income and principal to deserving graduates of Jenkintown High School each year. [Loan recipients are required to commence repayment upon their graduation from their chosen post-secondary institution and this is currently the main source of maintenance of funding for this program.]
• The Board of JEF is constantly striving to develop new ways to support the District, including applying for the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) through the State of Pennsylvania, which businesses would be able to use to write off a portion of their contributions through their business tax

Monetary donations to JEF may be made to the Foundation at any time during the year, and are tax deductible.  Contributions of time and effort as a Board member are also greatly appreciated for residents, or alumni living in the vicinity, and who are willing to attend bi-monthly Board meetings.

YES, I would like to help support the goals of the Foundation; please notify me of future meetings

As a JHS alum, you have the opportunity to support your alma mater and ensure continuing educational opportunities for the District's students and graduates by making a contribution to JEF.  The sustainability of the Student Loan Fund and any additional support for new student programs through JEF depends solely upon the repayment of student loans and contributions from businesses and other organizations and, of course, alumni, as JEF is not a line-item in the School District's budget.  If Jenkintown is near and dear to you, and you remember the great times you had there as well as the quality education you received, please consider making a contribution to JEF to keep that tradition alive and well  For now, sending your check made out to "Jenkintown Education Foundation"  is what you should do to lend your support; but we hope to make things easier in the future by adding a "Donate Now" option/button to both the District and alumni web site.  Stay tuned for that.

Thanks for taking the time to visit and, hopefully, add support to JEF to your "Things To Do" list.

Best regards,
Nancy W. Campbell, Chairperson
Jenkintown Education Foundation
