JENKINTOWN EDUCATION FOUNDATION & OUR SENIORS NEED YOUR HELP!! As many of you may know, Jenkintown Education Foundation (JEF) provides interest-free student loans to graduating seniors of JHS. Any interested student must write an essay explaining how they will use the funds (no spending money options here!) and provide proof of enrollment to receive the funds. In the past, we have given from $500 to as much as $1,250 to 5-7 seniors per year. This year, however, our Student Loan Fund is greatly depleted (only $2000 is available at this time) and we were unable to do our traditional post-Thanksgiving fundraiser at Barnes & Noble. Additionally, we have not been receiving many contributions overall, other than the required repayment from graduates as they finish their college education, which is very slow. We know that times are tough all around, but we do not want to get to the end of this school year and not be able to provide assistance to our seniors. It would be the first time since the Fund's inception and we know, now more than ever, that every dollar counts. Every dollar spent toward post-secondary education is money well invested to bring us out of the economic crisis in which we find ourselves. Please strongly consider making a year-end, tax-deductible contribution to JEF. We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit and you can claim this contribution on your income taxes. If every JHS alum gave just $20 (more if you can, of course!), it would keep the Student Loan Fund going and growing, providing help to our graduating seniors. For more details on how to give and tax information, please contact the District's Business Manager and JEF Treasurer, Mr. Zorian Dubenko at (215) 885-3722 or dubenkoz@Jenkintown.org.
